Undergraduate Student, Environmental Studies
I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at Queen’s University specializing in Environmental Toxicology. My research interests stem from my experiences growing up in a small town along Lake Erie, where I discovered my passion for protecting our freshwater ecosystems. Presently, I am investigating the potential impacts of Canadian oil sands operations. I have recently joined the QE3 lab as a SWEP student to examine the effects of naphthenic acid fraction components (NAFC) found in oil sands wastewaters on freshwater fish. I will be continuing my research throughout the school year as an Honours Thesis student to investigate the prevalence of cardiac abnormalities caused by embryonic exposure to NAFCs in fathead minnows. You can find me on Linkedin.
