OLOF Project (2024-28)

In the Our Lakes, Our Future (OLOF) research programme, we are working with our colleagues in New Zealand to develop new approaches to understand, diagnose, and enhance lake health. Learn more.

This project is based in New Zealand and is primarily funded by an Endeavour Fund Research Programme Grant from New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment. Our participation is also supported by The J. Allen Keast Field Biology International Exchange Fund at Queen’s University.

ROE Project (2023-28)

In the Pacific Salmon River Oil Experiment (ROE), we are studying how oil spills in British Columbia’s rivers affect early life stages of chinook salmon. Learn more.

This project is based at the Quesnel River Research Center and is co-funded by Natural Resources Canada and Environment & Climate Change Canada under the Multi-Partner Research Initiative, plus an NSERC Alliance Advantage Grant.

6PPD Project (2023-28)

In the 6PPD Project, we are investigating the effect of the tire antioxidant 6PPD on largemouth bass, as well as writing an evidence synthesis on the effects of this chemical on aquatic organisms.

This project is based at the Queen’s University Biological Station and is funded by Environment & Climate Change Canada.

pELAstic Project (2019-29)

In the pELAstic Project, we are investigating the fate and effects of microplastics in aquatic ecosystems using limnocorral and whole-lake manipulations. Learn more.

This project is based at the IISD-Experimental Lakes Area and is largely co-funded by NSERC and Environment & Climate Change Canada under the Plastics Science for a Cleaner Future program. Our lab is also supported by an Ontario Early Researcher Award.
